Miguel Cortez is an artist living in Chicago and born in Guanajuato, Mexico. He has studied filmmaking at Columbia College and has a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Recent exhibitions include a show in Chaimpaign, IL at the Krannert Museum and at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, as well as, in Austin at Studio 107 Gallery, Pool Art Fair in Miami, Milwaukee International Art Fair, "Lo Romantico" at Glass Curtain Gallery and "Lies that Bill Gates told me: Exploring the Digital Divide" at VU Space in Melbourne, Australia and at Mighty Fine Arts Gallery in Dallas.

Miguel is also a founding member of Polvo, an art collective since 1996, and has organized various shows throughout the years at the Polvo space and other cultural alternative spaces. The most recent one being '"Echelon: who's watching you?" at Polvo and in September 2006 at UnitB Gallery in San Antonio. Before this he organized a show during Contemporary Art Month July 2006 in San Antonio and February 2006 at Commerce Street Artists' Warehouse in Houston, Texas. He currently runs an alternative contemporary art space called antena in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.
